More and more,
Chile is becoming a climbing country! People are constantly discovering new
cliffs and putting up new routes. With respect to sport climbing, the best developed area is Las Chilcas with about 80
bolted, mostly one-pitch climbs.
Climbing in the Manzano valley is more varied, with routes up to 6 pitches. The cliffs are not
easy to find, you will have to walk and search, but rock and surroundings are
great. Hitchcock is one of the most promising new areas. Good granite peaks high up in the
Cordillera are found in the Espolones del Brujo, Cordón Granito and Cochamó. Take a look to
Argentina as well, i.e. to Bariloche
and Arenales. See also the topo-pages, a summary of the
available topos.
